|
|
I turned on the television to a news channel this morning, and saw someone being interviewed, saying "The people are looking for a righteous leader" and I laughed and said, "That is the tragedy of all nations, always looking for a righteous leader, when all they can hope for is a human leader."
What I meant by that is, every human is flawed, and has weaknesses and temptations as well as strengths. Yet we envision and imagine a perfection and nobility which cannot possibly exist in reality. And were it to exist in any one individual, then they would find themselves living in a lonely world indeed, for their perfection would make them rather unpopular.
