now,.... allow me to make some points.... suppose i spend one hour in this chat room, explaining to 2 or 3 people regarding Plato, and misology and misanthropy and discourse... and suppose I even convince them of something, or persuade them to read Plato... well, I have spent an entire hour to achieve very little

for the simple reason that my words will disappear from the screen, and only influenced two or three... BUT, IF I HAD posted the same thing at a message board... then potentially, hundreds could read, and my words might remain their for months or even years, and enter into the search engines, and attract the attention of students

there is no need for me to belittle you, when you belittle yourself every day by wasting your time with shallow comments, repeating yourself over and over, and feeling satisfaction over some ad hominem put-down

we shall all be dead a hundred years from now, and most likely no one will even remember our names, and it shall make no difference what I thought of you, or what you thought of me, or whether we were popular or admired... but what DOES make a difference now, is what each of us does with our lives, each day, and our minds, and whether we waste our bodies and minds with abuse and gossip, or whether we attempt to achieve something.

so, if you are so clever and original, you should do the world a favor, and write everything down, and give people the link, so they may benefit from your wisdom
