Here's a thread:
Miller is often misunderstood or misclassified within the literary world. People make faces or scoff at the mere mention of serious scholarship concerning him in the United States. He is never a central figure, nor a marginal one; in fact, it seems as though the readership has done a good job of keeping him a "dirty little secret" as perpetuated by ignorant readers.
Therefore, I'm curious how it is people actually receive him for the first time. If you had to suggest an introductory Miller book with virtually no explanation to the reader, what would it be? Why?
