erhankayalik: hi
literarydiscussions: hi... i am reading your messages now

literarydiscussions: reasonably safe recipient for delegated responsiblity"

erhankayalik: is it shown?

literarydiscussions: this means it is pretty certain that it is ok to let such a
group do things, and give them responsibility

literarydiscussions: to be honest, the original sentence is not very
good: "the range of skills provided by its mambers and the self
monotoring which each group performs makes it a reasonably safe
recipient for delegeted responsiblity"

literarydiscussions: i understand what it is saying, but it is a very poor
sentence in english, very awkward...

erhankayalik: ha ha hahahaha

erhankayalik: it is from a essay

literarydiscussions: is it your sentence

literarydiscussions: or the professor, or a textbook

literarydiscussions: or... is it someone else's essay

literarydiscussions: another student

erhankayalik: i think a proffesors centence

literarydiscussions: oy vey!

literarydiscussions: which means "Oh no!"

literarydiscussions: you know what the sentence makes me think.... it

makes me think of someone who is phoney and is trying to sound like
they know about management, but they are just bull-shitting, and really
know nothing

erhankayalik: it is from a project that is given us to study and it will be
probably asked in exam

erhankayalik: you are right

literarydiscussions: this is very sad indeed...

literarydiscussions: it is simply "going through the motions" in order to earn a piece of paper called a degree
literarydiscussions: which is not even worth the paper that it is printed on
literarydiscussions: no offense to you...
literarydiscussions: but, there are schools like this
literarydiscussions: what you really need is a top notch textbook for each field, in english, from USA, so you can compare...
erhankayalik: there are textbooks in library
literarydiscussions: oh, good
erhankayalik: and the exam is tomorrow at 13
erhankayalik: afternoon
literarydiscussions: 1 PM
erhankayalik: yes
literarydiscussions: 13 hundred hours, military time
literarydiscussions: thats how they say it in the military in usa
erhankayalik: im laughing
literarydiscussions: why?
literarydiscussions: i mean, about military time
literarydiscussions: or about your stupid professor
erhankayalik: professor
literarydiscussions: i would be ashamed to write a sentence like that
erhankayalik: im laughing again
literarydiscussions: its not simply that it is lousy english... but the very
thought that it expresses is worthless and idiotic

literarydiscussions: there IS no useful way to express that thought,
because it is the thought of a moron

literarydiscussions: i am not trying to be cruel or funny... i am being very
honest and sincere
erhankayalik: i understand and i had writen two more have you got them

literarydiscussions: no, i dont have them
erhankayalik: ok
erhankayalik: may i ask you them
literarydiscussions: of course
erhankayalik: actually for the first centence what does "reasonably safe
recipient for delegated responsiblity" mean and" it "that placed in the
centence refers what?

literarydiscussions: if i own a small company.... then, as boss, i can
choose to do EVERYTHING myself, that is important, and make ALL
decisions... so that no one can make a move without my saying yes...

literarydiscussions: BUT, if business gets TOO BIG.. then i cannot possibly
do all things myself... so i must DELEGATE responsibilities to different
people, and make them in charge of certain areas, with the power to
make their own decisions, without my knowledge

literarydiscussions: if i choose to DELEGATE authority to others, i must
first be certain that it is safe, ok.... and that i can trust the other people to
do what is best

literarydiscussions: for example... in Cuba, there was a period of years
where FIDEL CASTRO, would travel all around the country and try to fix
everything himself...

literarydiscussions: but... being only one person.. this was impossible...

literarydiscussions: so... when problems would come up in some other
part of cuba, where castro was NOT PRESENT, then no one would take
any action...

literarydiscussions: they were afraid to do anything, because castro would
do EVERYTHING

literarydiscussions: the result is that important things /problems would not
receive any attention...

erhankayalik: delegate means something like give cos i know it as the
choosen one

literarydiscussions: if i am a ruler of a country... i may choose to visit
turkey personally, or i may choose to send a delegate, a representative to
turkey to speak for me and represent me

literarydiscussions: a delegate can be a person, in which case the word is
a noun...

literarydiscussions: OR, delegate can be a verb, for example if i say to
CASTRO, "Fidel, you MUST DELEGATE some responsibility to other
people, to help you run Cuba"

literarydiscussions: and, he will puff his cigar and say, "Greengo, I weeelll
shoooot you"

erhankayalik:
literarydiscussions: or perhaps "feeelthy greengo, I weel shoot you"

literarydiscussions: that is a joke accent,... how spanish would say in
english, 'Filthy gringo, I will shoot you"

literarydiscussions: gringo means white yankee

literarydiscussions: non-hispanic

erhankayalik: i know

literarydiscussions: ok... just bridging the cultural/linguist gap, if there is
one

erhankayalik: ok the second one

literarydiscussions: so, you know how to handel fidel castro now?

literarydiscussions: just joking

erhankayalik: from the individuals point of view, there is the added
incentive that through belonging to a group each can participate in
achivments well beyond his/her own individual potential" this is the second
one
literarydiscussions: hmm... ok...

literarydiscussions: well... it is certainly true that there are many things
which no one person can do...(like build a supercomputer from scratch,
knowing all hardware, electronics, mechanics, and all software / operating
system)... such can ONLY be done as a corporate effort of many...

literarydiscussions: BUT... i do not believe it is true that individuals are
motivated by some satisfaction of being part of such a corporate whole...

literarydiscussions: human nature is very selfish... we take satisfaction
ONLY in being able to do MORE than everyone else, and knowing things
that all the rest do not know... in being special and unique

literarydiscussions: if human beings COULD take joy in being part of some
greater whole, then they would be like angels and saints.... and there
would be no destruction of rainforests, or destruction of ozone layer, or
global warming

literarydiscussions: so, once again, this sentence is PURE BULLSHIT,
written by someone who wants to PRETEND that they know something
about corporate behavior

literarydiscussions: in my humble opinion

literarydiscussions: if you have a puppy dog who keeps taking a poop on
the floor,.... then you have to push his nose in his poop, to give him the
idea that it is wrong...

literarydiscussions: so... someone should catch your professor, and hold
his nose in this shit... until he figures out that something is wrong, and
changes

erhankayalik: the name of project(it is a text)is :group which in work

erhankayalik: when all Hell breaks loose the leaders are lynched"this is
the third one and after you this i have to go to review the grammer

erhankayalik: and also write an essay to be acquinted with cause effect
essays

literarydiscussions: ok, what is the third sentence

erhankayalik: when all Hell breaks loose the leaders are lynched

literarydiscussions: you must be kidding.... what kind of sentence is that
for a professor
erhankayalik: hell is the hell we know?

literarydiscussions: i must admit, it fits right in with the spirit and mentality of Qu'ran, and the Nabi,...

literarydiscussions: and the islamic way of doing things... but what does it
have to do with a serious college course on business

literarydiscussions: "all hell breaks loose" is an expression which
means.... control is lost, order is lost, and things go wrong.... and there is
no leadership

erhankayalik: but teachers say this projects come from serious universities

erhankayalik: and i think they are lieing

literarydiscussions: oh please! i will show all this to my step son who is a
senior in Fordham University, and is a business/finance major

erhankayalik: they write'em themselves i think

literarydiscussions: and i will see what he says, and let you know...

literarydiscussions: this stuff is pathetic...

literarydiscussions: such things would be pathetic even for high school or
junior high school...

literarydiscussions: perhaps it would fit in with grade school,... age 11

literarydiscussions: i realize this is not your fault

literarydiscussions: one of my message board members is a high school
teacher of history... i shall ask his opinion...

erhankayalik: about these centences?

literarydiscussions: yes, i shall ask several people their opinion about
these sentences, and the business course as you desribe it

literarydiscussions: describe

literarydiscussions: have i helped you at all?

erhankayalik: we have this kind of texts in prep course but they make this
writting bad day by day and when i asked who is writting these texts they
said they are coming from universities in england and america and some
of'em aretaken fromwritings of job meetings

erhankayalik: and you helped me very much thank you alot

literarydiscussions: oh... and my step daughter.. age 26 is a middle
management executive in a BIG accounting firm... so i will ask her opinion
also

erhankayalik: from conferances

literarydiscussions: i guarantee you, real people in business will laugh this
to scorn

erhankayalik: and please tell me all of the answers you will recive cos i
want to tell all people this silly thing

literarydiscussions: of course ... you can count on me

erhankayalik:

erhankayalik: ok dear i m going to study grammer now thank you a lot

erhankayalik: you really helped me

erhankayalik:
literarydiscussions: any time... i hate to see students in other countries
receiving inferior education,.... or learning false, useless things

literarydiscussions: what is bad for Turkey is bad for the world, in the long
run
literarydiscussions: what is bad for any nation is bad for the world, in the
long run
erhankayalik: i agree with you

literarydiscussions: i just read those three sentences to our company
controller, who is 62, and has worked for huge companies most of his
life... and he let out a big laugh and said "such nonsense"...

erhankayalik: maybe i can send you whole of the text

erhankayalik: after my studying

literarydiscussions: regarding the satisfaction/motivation of a group
member, being able to achieve more, he agrees with me, but points out
that only certain cultures, like japan, where they would place company
over family

literarydiscussions: certainly... send me

literarydiscussions: in japan, people might have such an attitude about
being part of a group... which is an attitude of ants and bees...

literarydiscussions: but most cultures are selfish and egotistical, and
would not be motivated by the group accomplishment

erhankayalik: and it is nature of humankind

erhankayalik: japan culture like lots of east cultures are

erhankayalik: not are /is

literarydiscussions: the notions of communism are the notions of angels...
that each would take only what they need, and each would care for the
well being of the whole....

literarydiscussions: Hobbes, in his Leviathan said "If men were angels,
there would be no need of government"

literarydiscussions: but, communism failed economically.... not because it
is wrong... but because human beings are proud, selfish and greedy...

erhankayalik: right

literarydiscussions: NOW... capitalism is morally inferior to the idealism of
communism... BUT.. capitalism harnesses the pride and greed of the
individual, through competition, to make them productive

literarydiscussions: the evils of capitalism are better suited to the evil
selfish nature of human beings

erhankayalik: i mean japan culture just is another form that folk have
developed to live together like all of others it has created over hiding real
wants of individual and it has a duty as being a buffer for eachone against
each individual and whole of peole

erhankayalik: it has been created over

literarydiscussions: good point, with regard to your theories from
yesterday...

literarydiscussions: you know... i have found on internet, some letters
from women in Egypt who are co-wives (second wives) under islam...
and they speak about how miserable they are....

literarydiscussions: they speak about how it is the will of Allah, and Islam,
so they must be brave, and suffer, for the sake of a future paradise...

literarydiscussions: but... it is just covering up their true needs and
desires....

literarydiscussions: no woman WANTS to be number two... in a
polygynous marriage

literarydiscussions: it is totally against the womans nature...

erhankayalik: right

literarydiscussions: but.... the external ideology (or myth) of the religion
(or the social system), masks the true individual, and the individual pays
lip service to ideals which are not sincere

literarydiscussions: so, they wind up living a lie

literarydiscussions: look at now frequent suicide is in japanese culture

Thank you for posting that Sitaram. I imagine that it is now too late for
an adequate response, but nevertheless, that was one of the more
educating, yet humorous back and forths that I've witnessed on a chat
board in a long time. Just some random thoughts here. In regards to
Castro, he wouldn't have been chomping on a cigar as he gave up
smoking in the mid-1980s as he fell madly in love with the UN global
anti-smoking campaign. Perhaps the "Fitness with Fidel" video will be next
for El Jefe? As a a matter of fact, he has stated that one should give
cigars to one's enemies. I will gladly take one for the nation and take all
the Romeo Y Julietas and Cohibas the island can produce.

It's also true that he had a problem with delegating tasks. Che Guevara
was more of a middle level manager in charge of revolution in Africa and
South America. Naturally, he was overworked and was captured and
killed in the remote areas of Bolivia. The revoultion of the proletariat has
been on hold ever since. Ironically, it was poor farmers who sold him out
to the authorities.

In regards to business and other such rigorous studies, yes, a lot of
bullshitting is part of the game. Hence why a Ph.D. really stands for "Piled
high & Deeper." :o
