Teacher_in_Tehran: can i do khow your asl?

Sitaram: I have created a message board of forums for serious
discussions at http://www.literarydiscussions.myfreeforum.org

Sitaram: i am on line to discuss ideas, not asl

Teacher_in_Tehran: i agree with u

Sitaram: you may browse that message board, if you like, and see if
there is something to interest you

Teacher_in_Tehran: what is your country?

Sitaram: I have read "Reading Lolita in Tehran" by Asar Nafisi

Sitaram: USA

Teacher_in_Tehran: okkk good
Teacher_in_Tehran: i am teacher
Teacher_in_Tehran: persian

Sitaram: always honored to meet teachers

Sitaram: I have met in USA two Jews from Iran, one of whom lived in
Russian, and then came to USA

Teacher_in_Tehran: really?

Sitaram: several years ago, I spoke at length with an engineer in Iran,
who explained that there were many Yoga centers, since yoga is a health
exercise,.... so it was permitted and not seen as a kafir religion

Sitaram: yes,... there are a small number of jews who have lived in Iran
(their ancestors) for hundreds of years

Teacher_in_Tehran: what is your relagios?

Sitaram: the Zoroastrians fled from Iran 1000 years ago, fleeing
persecution from Muslims, and took refuge in India, where there are still
50,000 to this day

Sitaram: they are called Parsis (persians)

Sitaram: both my parents were protestant christian background, but not
practicing, in name only.... not going to church

Teacher_in_Tehran: i dont underestand

Sitaram: so I was never brought to a house of worship growing up, nor
was I given religious instruction (except to the extent that television
shows would have religious programs)

Teacher_in_Tehran: oh

Sitaram: in USA, many people become very secular..... the religion of
their ancestors is something that they pay lip-service to once or twice a
year, on big holidays,... but they do not really practice or believe

Sitaram: for such people, religion is a "politically correct" thing to have,
to put down on a hospital form, or in military records

Teacher_in_Tehran: relagion

Sitaram: religion

Teacher_in_Tehran: relagion is it ?
Teacher_in_Tehran: for u ?

Sitaram: it is spelled "religion"
Teacher_in_Tehran: ok?
Teacher_in_Tehran: what is it for u ?

Sitaram: well, I did become religious, as I grew older.... and explored
many religions,.... at age 19 I read the entire qu'ran in english, cover to
cover,.... but felt no desire for islam

Sitaram: i read the entire old and new testaments (bible)..... in my age
20's, and I learned ancient greek in college, so I could translate sentences
from the new testament (gospels)

Sitaram: I became greek orthodox christian at age 22, and remained that
, serious, practicing, for 20 years, but gradually became disillusioned and
drifted away....

Teacher_in_Tehran: ok

Sitaram: i spent much time studying Hinduism and Buddhism, and I found
more of a kindred spirit in such beliefs and cultures...

Teacher_in_Tehran: i am surprized
Teacher_in_Tehran: what is your idea a bout islam?
Teacher_in_Tehran: in now?

Sitaram: actually,.... if you divide all religions into the "abrahamic" (Jew,
Christian, Muslim... and toss in Zoroastrian) .... abrahamic on the one
side, versus, eastern (Vedic), such as Hinduism, Buddhism,...

Sitaram: then you will find that Hindu and Buddhist cosmology is closer to
modern physics than Abrahamic cosmology

Sitaram: one physicist wrote a book on this, entitled "The Tao of Physics"

Sitaram: If I tell you my true opinions regarding Islam, then I shall anger
and offend you perhaps

Teacher_in_Tehran: no i want do khow it
Teacher_in_Tehran: just

Sitaram: are you not fond of Islam, devout, believing,... do you not
greatly admire the prophet muhammed...

Teacher_in_Tehran: this subject

Sitaram: do you fast Ramadan

Sitaram: do you observe the 5 times of prayer per day

Sitaram: what is your practice?

Teacher_in_Tehran: yes

Sitaram: Ramadan is about to end, once the new moon is observed

Teacher_in_Tehran: i have fasting

Sitaram: you are fasting now, during daylight

Teacher_in_Tehran: yes this days
Teacher_in_Tehran: sure
Teacher_in_Tehran: i belive it

Sitaram: you are violating the commandment of the quran by speaking
with me, in the 5th Surah, 52 verse, it clearly states, "Do not be friends
with Christians or Jews, they have each other to be friends with and he
who is friends with them is one of them, and Allah does not help
wrong-doers"

Teacher_in_Tehran: this practice a couse that we underestand
Teacher_in_Tehran: peopel poor with out water and food

Sitaram: so, why do you ignore the command of the Qu'ran and speak
with kafirs

Teacher_in_Tehran: i belive that people are free in selection kafirs

Teacher_in_Tehran: or muslem or jews or .................

Sitaram: then you do not believe that every word of the Qu'ran is true

Teacher_in_Tehran: and disscussion a couse improve their belives

Sitaram: you pick and choose, and fashion your own customized version
of Islam

Teacher_in_Tehran: and it is good
Teacher_in_Tehran: yes

Sitaram: you should investigate this site ...
Sitaram: so, you agree that you are not 100% muslim?

Teacher_in_Tehran: what is your target from 100% muslim?

Sitaram: i just want to know how you rate yourself.... i give you a verse
from the qu'ran that you do not obey, and you seem to feel that this is
ok....

Teacher_in_Tehran: ok i agree with u with if that we have problem

Sitaram: There is a collection, from oral tradition, of "The Sayings of
Prophet Muhammed",.... and in one of those sayings, the prophet
says, "When a kafir says to you Salaam Alehoum, DO NOT reply PEACE
unto you, but rather say THE SAME to you..." because the blessing of a
kafir is a curse, so...

Teacher_in_Tehran: no qran

Sitaram: so if you say "THE SAME TO YOU" then you are reflecting the
curse of the kafir back upon him....
Sitaram: based upon this teaching, Islam speaks of peace ONLY among
fellow muslims, and not peace with non muslims

Sitaram: take a look at this site, which I found yesterday

Sitaram: http://www.formermuslims.com/foru...=e64bb00381e433d1697ab0f2160d81c1

Sitaram: that link is a lengthy discussion of how the prophet muhammed
forced his adopted son to divorce his wife so that Muhammed could then
marry her

Teacher_in_Tehran: this idea is worng that islam has not peace with
others

Teacher_in_Tehran: with out muslem

Sitaram: muslims cannot even find peace among themselves.... look at
Sunni, Shia, Kurd conflicts in Iraq

Sitaram: If all of the world tomorrow converted to Islam, there would still
not be peace in the world

Teacher_in_Tehran: no i want talk with u sorry i am weak in english

Sitaram: for many centuries, Muslim Scholars have discussed a saying of
the prophet Muhammed, that Islam will divide into 73 different sects, and
only ONE of those sects will find salvation with Allah

Teacher_in_Tehran: can i send to u replay
Teacher_in_Tehran: i want replay to u in later

Teacher_in_Tehran: pls accept

Sitaram: how can you learn of news in Iraq and still say that there is
peace in Islam... when even if USA left tomorrow, there will be great

Sitaram: great civil war between shia, kurd, sunni

Sitaram: I am discussing such matters at my message board

Teacher_in_Tehran: i want replay to u

Sitaram: you may reply at my message board

http://www.literarydiscussions.myfreeforum.org or

Teacher_in_Tehran: no your message veru exiting for me

Sitaram: or my email literarydiscussions@yahoo.com

Sitaram: well... at my message board, there is a section on Islam

Sitaram: and a section on Christianity and Judaism

Sitaram: and Hinduism and Islam

Sitaram: also on literature,.... a section on Salman Rushdie

Sitaram: you are welcome to discuss anytime, in email, chat or at message board

Teacher_in_Tehran: i live in tehran

Sitaram: this will be an interesting read for you at my site

Sitaram: it is true that i am critical of islam, but i try to be fair and civil,
and not cruel or vicious
