literarydiscussions: you mean,... wondrous, amazing samuel_osatuyi : but pple can easy get it over there, that is why it is so samuel_osatuyi : yes literarydiscussions: well.... people come here from mexico and south america,... and work jobs that we consider undesirable, long hours, low pay for us... but to them, it is a lot, and they cannot earn the same in their country.... and it lets them send money to their families back in their country samuel_osatuyi : yes u ar correct samuel_osatuyi : only god can help we massy literarydiscussions: i met an old black woman in usa, in her 80s, retired, who came from Jamaica, and she worked all her life in usa in garment district.... at hard job, for what people consider low wages... but she was better off than if she had stayed in Jamaica samuel_osatuyi : this is the true position of every poor nigerian, expecially me,if i can find a way out of Nigeria, if i sees such i will do it, but just for a moment literarydiscussions: on our educational television (which is private, run by donations, not government, and expresses points of view contrary to government sometimes) on educational TV, there was documentary about one African who had been a farmer, but got a boat, and turned to fishing, because farming was poor.... samuel_osatuyi : u know, u can"t im agine the hazard ppl go through literarydiscussions: he was doing better at fishing, but said that he was so used to having milk, as a farmer, that he did not feel right if he did not drink some milk each day... literarydiscussions: Jeff Max thinks that American news distorts and exaggerates things, and that we think that all africans are naked in a jungle, and not in big cities with tall buildings...... but that is not true.... we have public television which is independent, and shows factual documentaries about real peoples lives in africa, india, china, etc samuel_osatuyi : it is true , this would have been my advice to the american television, they sholud try to help our situation insted of ridiculing the africa continent literarydiscussions: you do not understand what i said literarydiscussions: they never ridicule africa on tv.... jeff max is mistaken samuel_osatuyi : ok samuel_osatuyi : but when they saw africans lanquishing in pains, what have they done to help samuel_osatuyi : i understand u literarydiscussions: well... i am certain that help has come from usa and other countries..... to africa.... though i cannot say in detail how much or what.... but on the otherhand... you cannot expect usa to totally remove all the poverty or illness or suffering... since that is not possible literarydiscussions: centuries ago, no nation would take some action if there was a genocide or an injustice in another country... literarydiscussions: but now.... you see action taken regarding hutu/tutsi genocide.... or the actions against muslims in bosnia samuel_osatuyi : at list, well the london government ar trying, a governor in Nigveria took the country"s money to london, and he was caught,if america can teach and assert presure on hthe rich Nigerians in usa, it will help to remember the mpor literarydiscussions: i do not say that americans are saints..... no nation or people is saintly... each have their selfish sides, self interest..... but it is not fair to portray americans as demons with evil agendas, as we are portrayed by Cuba and North Korea literarydiscussions: whenever North Korea has a frequent power electrical brown out, they say "oh those damn americans are doing this to us".... which is absurd samuel_osatuyi : am not imposing the blames on americans, but it is part of jthe ways they can help to let the rich have the mind of the poor in them literarydiscussions: here is someone talking to me from ethiopia literarydiscussions: hiruyfekre literarydiscussions: his screen name samuel_osatuyi : you if the home is good,ppl woN"t go out in serching for a better hope samuel_osatuyi : is he online right now samuel_osatuyi 's status is now "Available". literarydiscussions: and you could use ICQ the chat program, use their search engine... which will show you who is on line in ICQ for a given african country and city literarydiscussions: like everyone in lagos, nigeria literarydiscussions: for example literarydiscussions: you can visit yahoo chat rooms where there may be many african-americans.... and get some of them to join literarydiscussions: you can hold yahoo conferences with 5 or 10 people from africa... then save the chat using cut and paste.. then edit it.. then post it to the message board.... and discuss important issues regarding life in africa, politics, economy, health launch a campaign to get people like Bill Gates of Microsoft,... and others of wealth and power... to fund free internet access in major areas in Africa, major cities |
