I was in yahoo books and lit chat room yesterday (where I often plug TBF), and I met an interesting student who had a page at myspace.com . I joined myspace, out of curiosity. Upon joining myspace, one is automatically assigned one friend, who is a staff member. I clicked on their profile, and saw their other "friends", when, lo and behold, I noticed that Tenzin Gyatso, the Dalai Lama was among them. I thought it must be a joke. But upon visiting the profile, I am convinced that it is genuine.
And, I went through hell to find the following link, using google.com
www.myspace.com/jetsunjamphelngawanglo
myspace does not give you an easy way to learn someones url, unless they want to tell you what it is or post it somewhere.
I think that jetsunjamphelngawanglo is Tibetan for "I am just a man", but I am not sure. Anyway, I found this fascinating. I have no intention of bringing up religion or politics with this post. But if I found that Annie Proulx had her own blog there, I would tell you too, or some other public personality for that matter.
