literarydiscussions: I mentioned to someone that I have some acquaintances in Nigeria... and he said, "Oh , be careful ... because of the email scams which originate..." but this is sad, to stereotype a nation
of people... it is just like those who say "Oh, Americans are this and that," and not talk with me... or to say..."Oh, muslims are this and that" and not talk with an Iranian

Jeff Max: but all are not same
Jeff Max: some americans cant chat with me once they realise i am a nigerian

literarydiscussions: we cannot stereotype nations.... I am not typical of an american in my thinking

Jeff Max: but some few has caused that but all are not
same

literarydiscussions: i mean, i am not typical of the stereotype some people have of americans. So... we all lose out when we reject people before giving them a chance

Jeff Max: sure thats true
literarydiscussions: some blacks or hispanics think that

white people are only a certain way... and they stay

distant... or they are suspicious, mistrustful
Jeff Max: yes life is like that
Jeff Max: but i have learnt not to generalise issues
literarydiscussions: there is a cartoon in the New

Yorker Magazine, a few years ago.. one dog is at the

computer typing, and says to the other dog, "On the

Internet, no one knows you're a dog"
literarydiscussions: it is a very amusing cartoon...
Jeff Max: fantastic
literarydiscussions: the internet will be the great

multicultural leveler.. equalizer... of the 21st century
literarydiscussions: and learning tool, library,...

discussion forum, melting pot
Jeff Max: only wen one proves to be a dog thats wen

people now knows he or she to be a dog
Jeff Max: sure
literarydiscussions: well.... "dog" (dog-ness) is

neither good nor bad... but simply represents the way we

are...
literarydiscussions: if you are hunting ducks...

dog-ness is good... useful, needful
literarydiscussions: it it is a sterile medical ward...

then dog-ness is bad
Jeff Max: ok
literarydiscussions: i told that young woman in iran

today..."males are dogs.... woof woof"
literarydiscussions: we were talking about "Bookseller

of Kabul" (afghanistan) where shopkeepers find very poor

women, and give them food for sex
Jeff Max: terrible
literarydiscussions: she was saddened... but i said...

males have that opportunistic nature.... not all...

but... even good males have the passing thought,

temptation
Jeff Max: sure
literarydiscussions: so.. we must be honest with

ourself, about our natures... our "dog-ness" whatever

that might be... and try to improve what allows

improvement... and accept ourselves and others...

Jeff Max: As i am now I am working hard to see how i get a scholarship to study more either in europe or US
Jeff Max: may be my doggedness is towards that or wat do u think
literarydiscussions: yes... good play on words.... dogged determination... dogs have their good points... loyal,... faithful....
Jeff Max: how
literarydiscussions: dogs are tenacious... holding onto a bone or a thiefs leg
literarydiscussions: hence the term "dogged determination"
literarydiscussions: so it is a virtue in some arenas
literarydiscussions: and "dog is mans best friend"...
Jeff Max: so will u now describe me as one considering wat i said about my self
literarydiscussions: Milan Kundera discusses the philosophy of the pet dog named Karenin (male for Anna Karenina)... in "The Unbearable Lightness of Being"
literarydiscussions: i must return to work... but this is a fascinating topic we may discuss later.. and what Milan Kundera says about it...
literarydiscussions: if you search at my forum on KUNDERA you will find much
