The Autumn has Come
As the Autumn anchors its way,
Thro’ the slowly dying day
The fading light,
Bringing the lowly night;
Only whispering the old tale,
Of dying beauty setting sail.
Gone, gone, gone
Our sighing floating through the waves.
The dead leaves do fall,
To remind us of our end
And the rain falls sweetly,
Kissing us like we did;
The water running on my lips,
And from my eyes as I see your reflection.
So the end is come:
Alas it came too soon,
Too soon, that like the frosted woods,
That ache to the cold,
My wistful heart does crack,
As it holds,
Onto what has passed,
Summer’s over but I still remain,
Standing and wondering why it cannot be the same…
