I forsee myself writing about BBM, book and movie, for some time to
come. But one cannot help but ask the question, "How long shall
everyone sustain their fervant interest in BBM."
One gay acquaintance commented to me, once, "everything is so exciting
in the beginning [of a relationship]".
I have been fascinated by so many things in my life. I spent several
years studying ancient Greek, and teaching myself to speak modern
Greek.
I spent a year of my life reading everything that Hegel ever wrote (in
English translation) and writing about it.
I became fascinated with Virginia Woolf's "Orlando" and spent some time
immersed in her life and writings.
The same thing happened for me with Thomas Pynchon.
But, in the wise words of Solomon, "This too shall pass."
During the ceremony of a papal coronation, the procession is interrupted
three times by a barefoot monk, in sackcloth, with a rope belt, who lights
a taper and places it in front of the procession, and says "Sic transit gloria
mundi" (thus passes the glory of the world). And everyone waits for the
taper to extinguish, before their procession resumes.
