This is my first "sticky".

I just want a place where a few people can come and post.

Here is how it works. If I know you, then I make you a moderator and create a forum with your screen name, or some other name of your choice.

I dont want to impose lots of rules. All I ask is that you be serious. I have disabled smilies and avatars. If you have something which you can post at "the other forum", then by all means do so.

I think that it is nice for people to experience being a moderator. I think we should all be adults. If you want to have a long talk with someone about anything in the world, politics, religion, sex, whatever.... go right ahead. All I ask is that it be serious and cordial. This is sort of an experiement, obviously. If you like this sort of forum, you may certain subscribe to your own free one.

I am so happy to see Nighthawk here, learning, practicing. And now Scruffy_Danny has joined us and give us his first poem. And he has a good sounding band. Danny may decide to get his own free forum here. It seems very easy to register.

One big issue I must decide is with regard to automatic pruning, which means that threads not posted to for 7 days are automatically deleted. Perhaps I can turn that off on a forum by forum basis. I must look that up. If so, I shall make certain that Poetry, Literature, Essays, etc is more permanent. If I cant turn pruning of on a forum by forum basis, then I shall turn it off for the entire message board, and do it manually.

Henry Miller suggests that Avatars are nice, so I have enabled Avatars.

Smileys remain disabled...

Henry Miller asked me if he can ban people.

The answer is that if I make you moderator, you have all the powers of a moderator. I am not certain if a moderator can ban, I shall research that.

But if this forum experiment of mine works out, then we should be a close knit group of compatible people. No one should ban someone just for fun.
Obviously, that if someone starts clowing around, then I will have to ban them. But if someone joines out of the blue, who seems to be a spammer, then, certainly ban them.

Thanks

It's simple! Pick any name you like. It does not HAVE to be your registered name. You do not need to enter an email address, but if you DO, then people can click on your name in the message and email you. IF you enter a URL, then, when they click on your name, they will be taken to that URL. Then, simple type your message and click GO. To check for replies, click on REFRESH.
