Richard Gere and Gennifer Lopez star in the movie "Shall We Dance?"
The story is about a happily married man who feels unhappy. He
decides to take ballroom dancing lessons secretly. His wife suspects
him of infidelity and hires a private detective to investigate her
husband's mysterious activities.
There is one very profound line from the movie which impressed me
greatly. The wife says to the detective, "We marry in order to have
a witness to our lives."
Who is the witness to your life?
Are we reliable witnesses to our own lives?
Even God needs a witness.
Why is it that being must be beheld by other?
In the Upanisads, why are there two birds in the tree, one who
tastes, and the other who witnesses?
