I was reading a book by Heisenberg, written in the
1950's, and he made the statement "processes
(technologies) are at work in the world (i.e nuclear
weapons), and no one can stop those processes (or put
them back in pandora's box)"... just like the internet
and a host of other things, the world will never stop
using them, such technology will evolve perhaps, but its
presence is irrevocable

Prohibition didnt work to control drinking intoxicants,
and was repealed,... so government cant control alcohol,
... and former Soviet Union had 70 years and 3
generations to eradicate religion,... but people came
out of the former USSR hankering for all sorts of
religions...

I feel it will always be a failure when society or
government imposes a morality or behavior from the
outside, (e.g. theocracies of today)... the only real
answer is education, to transform people so that the
change comes from within the individual..

Jefferson felt that education of everyone was essential
for the survival of the infant democratic republic, and
liberal arts colleges sprang up around the country..

But just like Heisenberg pointed out in the 1950s, you
can't put the genie back in the bottle, you cannot reseal
Pandora's box and return it to the manufacturer

Recently I saw a PBS (educational) television
documentary about the aids epidemic in Africa, where
certain countries are THIRTY percent (or more) HIV
positive... and only one country took siginicant
measures to reeducate the population... so AIDS is a
problem that we know intellectually how to control,
(protection, abstinance, monogamy, etc)... yet
Emotionally, we do not "know", if we continue in a risky
course of behavior (lifestyle)
