I got an e-mail from the admin management of these free forum and was warned because of the porno posted by spammers in my forum.

I just want to tell you I have appointed more moderators that I know well and trust and I promise there won't be anymore porno from spammers.

I banned some people today but please don't close down my forum.

So if you see any porn don't close my forum down because if I see anything I will delete it.

I am very new at this forum admin business, having done it in my spare time for only one week. But it seems to me that, if you carefully adjust the attributes of each forum, you can allow them to be visible and readible by guests (which, I am told, is all that is asked of us in TOS and conditions), but then only permit post edit delete to registered users. And if you really want to get fancy (now as a newbie I may be mistaken, so correct me if I am wrong) you can create private groups, and each group can have certain permissions for certain forums, to post, edit, delete, vote, poll, announce, etc. Then, when a guest registers, you can have it user activated, which means that they need a valid email account, so they can go and click on the authorize link in the email that your forum send them. Or, you can make activation an admin function. This should better control who has access to what, and how well you know them.

However, what I describe is more work for the admin, if you have hundreds of people joining. Anyway, hope some of this is accurate and helpful. Please correct me if I present things incorrectly or in a misleading fashion.

Keep in mind that you may lock your forum, if things get too hectic, though perhaps myfreeforums.org will not like it if forum is locked for long periods. I have not tried to lock a forum. Does it simply lock posting, or does it prevent guests from reading? Interesting question.

Bottom line is, hopefully, there is a way to set permissions on forums and members and groups such that spaming is easily reduced or completely eliminated (or if not, then life as we know it, ceases).
