I'm wondering as to what people think of the writings of Father Seraphim
Rose. I've read two of his books ORTHODOXY AND THE RELIGION OF THE
FUTURE which is strongly anti-ecumenical and against the New Age
movement and THE SOUL AFTER DEATH which argues for the passage of the
soul through demonic tollbooths in which sins are weighed against virtues
after death. I believe that Father Rose is too harsh on Hinduism and Zen
Buddhism, though in another one of his books he seems to have seen
glimmerings of Christ in the Tao Te Ching. Also, I disagree with Fr. Rose's
rejection of purgatory.
Father Rose seems to have come to the Orthodox faith after having briefly
been immersed in the traditionalist school of Rene Guenon. In any event,
I'm wondering as to what people might think of his writings and thought.
This particular thought may be problematic for some because of its highly
anti-ecumenical nature. However, I believe Fr. Rose was basically right
when it comes to the diabolical nature of the ecumenical movement.
